Where were we? Raging against various clubs, raging against each other about some of it, these Cultivate shows may appear serene but they do some with debate. We enjoyed Crystal Palace, the train companies did their best to make things difficult but we enjoyed Free The Gallery, especially the Saturday morning, when we had lots and lots of curious people as well as familiar faces coming to check out what I thought was a healthy mix of art. Love the space, loved the people, I expect we might be tempted to do it all again at some point (if Southern Trains and London Overground can get their act together). Now as we’ve said before, we’re not just going to do Cultivate shows for the sake of it, we’re going to pick and choose, it has to be the right space at the right time (and yes, it has to be the right price, this isn’t some rich kid operation, this is a proudly working class thing)
So yes we could just go do more shows in the usual places, but that’s not how we do things. Next up we’ll have more of those online shows that bring people together in what we feel is a rather positive way, we’re plotting the next Mixtape shows, the next Three x Three shows, well no, actually the next thing is a Cultivate boot or stall at the Art Car Boor Fair and their The Art Car Boot Fair Goes Into Space event at Kings Cross, here in London.
We shall be sharing a space at the fair, we being Sean Worrall and Emma Harvey, as always there’s a number of Cultivate-associated artists taking part amongst the 120 or so invited artists. The Art Car Boot Fair is always a very carefully curated thing, it is always an honour to be invited and included and it is always an exciting thing to be part of, an artist-friendly thing (probably the only art fair that really is) as well as a rather art-collector friendly thing
It is getting closer, the countdown is really on now, just over a week until The Art Car Boot Fair Goes into Space. The 2024 Art Car Boot Fair happens on Saturday 7th September, the full line up of artists was announced last week – ORGAN PREVIEW: Space is the place, the full line up for this year’s Art Car Boot Fair has been announced, things blast off on 7th September 2024, more than just another art fair, this is an artist-led art party and always one of the highlights of the London art year…
Here, for people who do the Spotify thing, is a playlist, everyone and everything needs a playlist. We shall start previewing some of the art and artists both at the live event and the online week-long version that will open on the same day on the Organ website in the lead up…
