OPENING THINGS, THINGS TO SUCK AND EVOLVING THINGS DOWN VYNER STREET TONIGHT…
We open late tonight at Cultivate Evolved, tonight being Wednesday January 15th, we have new work on the art chute wall from Emma Harvey, Sean Worrall and our latest guest artist, the rather painterly Philip Firsov, along with a last chance to see the work of previous guest artist Julie Caves (her bold work comes down on Friday evening).
The evolving walls of Cultivate currently also feature the work of the other six in-house artists Chris Paul Godber, Jessica Ballantyne, Gareth Morgan, Julia Maddison, Genevieve H-B and Katrine Storebo
There’s also the opening of two shows at the Wilkinson gallery in Vyner Street tonight (if something else is happening in the street we like to tell you about here or on our Vyner Street Art News Facebook page), if I was in an anarchically cynical mood I’d say, go drink the big gallery’s free sponsored beer and wine then come see what we’re doing in our beautifully scuzzy artist-run space. The two Wilkinson shows look pretty good tonight actually, and yes, I do like their space and the way you can breathe and indulge in the art in there, Shame they’re so unfriendly down there at the end of the street behind their big black doors, why does art have to come with such an elitist, unwelcoming unfriendly attitude? We meet so many people in Cultivate who tell us they don’t feel welcome in the other galleries, how they feel intimidated by the experience.
Tonight we open late, we’re open every Thursday to Sunday 11.30am until 6pm. come explore, we like to keep out doors open and our walls evolving, art, and streets like Vyner Street, should be alive…. .
