The week of Fragile then, fragile things? The delicate juggling and the cross-pollinating of art and attitudes. Christophe Cachelin (the artist otherwise known as Kidd Feather when he has his musical head on) will be joining us again, a last minute addition t owhat we hope you’ll agree is a fine selection of creators, performers, contemporary painters, street artists, print makers and more…
Another gathering of pro-active artists and a maximalist exercise in cross-pollination. Will it be fragile? The show opens this Thursday evening, Thursday February 9th at BSMT Space, 5d Stoke Newington Road, Dalston, London, N16 8BH. Opening night: Thursday 9 February 2017, 60m until 9pm Then open: Friday 10, Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 February from 11am until 6pm each day.
I like the energy of a group show, as an artist I like sharing wall spaces with others (indeed when I do solo shows I do like to try and have a guest wall and hopefully introduce new artists to different audiences). It disappoints me when artists say things like “I’m too big for group shows now”, or “I just want to focus on me”, not saying everyone should have a guest wall and no I’m not saying I’ll do it every time and of course solo shows shouldn’t have to be anything other than just the work of that one artist, but group shows are very very important and they really should not be treated as a mere stepping stone. Group shows are the life blood, let those new artists flow through, fill the walls, break the rules, cross-pollinate, I love exciting group shows. Our latest group show opens on Thursday, taking part in group shows excites me, hanging them excites me (rounding up the art and the artists drives me mad), bring on Thursday evening, bring your own drink, I spent all my money on paint and gallery rent.
