Cultivate is mostly funded, especially now during this ongoing extended period of lockdown and lockdoors, by the sales Emma and I make ourselves as artists. All the time spant dealing with the open calls and putting together the on-line shows is funded from the sales of our own art.
Most years we’d be well in to our first physical shows of the year by now. For the rest of January, while studio rent needs to be paid and galleries are all closed and shows aren’t happening and out main outlers in terms of sales areclosed to us, there is a 20% discount on all orders via the Vultivate on-line shop. This discount code is 20CULT2021. The shop can be explored here. More will be added as the week goes on. of course if you have seen something that you can’t find in the shop do please ask, it might still be here in the studio.
We still can’t seriously plan physical shows right now obviously, we are making plans, we have ideas, we can’t wait to get back to it but for now the only thing we can seriously plan for is online shows. We have two online shows coming up in the immediate future and plans for more We have Self coming up in February and Alright? in March. Alright? is the next show with an open call element to it. Not every show will automatically haven an open call element but, as we do keep on saying again and again, new artistic blood is important to us. I haven’t counted but I would expect that if I did then something like 50 or 60 artists made their debuts in terms of Cultivate shows in 2020. It is a shame that the Arts Council don’t see anything of value in any of this, right now we are really fight to keep all this going.
We’d love to sell you a small piece of affordable (to most, not affordable to everyone, we appreciate that) art so we can keep all this going. One this we promise we will never do is is charge artists just to submit to open calls.
or if you do feel like making a small donation – We bring all this art, music and underculture to you for free, we really don’t want to clutter up our pages with annoying adverts, no one wants that, but it does take up a lot of time, hours and hours of time. If you should feel like supporting Organ/Cultivate (for it is one in the same) by making a small donation to help keep all this flowing that would be delightful, thank you.
