Coming up next then, now that we’ve celebrated the return ro real life of the Art Car Boot Fair and last weekend’s fun in the sun at Brsitol’s rather brilliant Upfest, coming up next, An Art Fair In The yard – Sunday 12th June, Midday until 8pm.
The Five Points Brewing Company and Cultivate are coming together with artists from all over London and beyond to host our first Art Show in the Yard. Expect a gathering of painters, performers, art stalls, installations, music and plenty of Five Points pints all under the iconic railway arches in the big Five Points yard, just down the road from Broadway Market.
Cultivate, once a gallery based on Vyner Street, now nomadic, founded by artists Emma Harvey and Sean Worrall, Cultivate has been a thing for eleven years now. Art events in condemned warehouses, Edwardian dress shops, in formal white walled galleries, at dog shows, in car parks, in an old greengrocers, on line, on market stalls, at the seaside. Cultivate is about artists coming together to make things happen.
Five Points have been brewing with passion and integrity in the heart of Hackney, East London, since 2013. Modern and vibrant beer, always unfiltered and unpasteurised. Bottle, can, keg and cask.. Participating artists to be announced soon, Emma and I have our curating hats on right now pulling it all together….
Expect installation pieces from contemporary artist Julia Maddison, Cultivate co-founder and feminist Riot Grrrl flavoured painter Emma Harvey, expect tarot card readings from Performance artist/painter/musician/Rude Mechanical Miss Roberts, expect artist Duo Quiet British Accent to be along with a penny or two,. East London’s Vinay Hathi will be along with his giant bags, while Hackney Illustrator Jane Smith will be bringing some of her beautiful East London illustrations. Respected contemporary painter John Gathercole will be joining us as will installation artist and curator Rebecca Feiner – Rebecca is an artist steeped in Hackney history. Hackney painter Lennie Lee will bring his unique colour that’s as bright as his famous Hackney house, Suzie Pindar will be with us alongside Mary T. Spence, so will performance artist Geisha Davis will be with us. Meanwhile fresh from a very successful weekend of painting at Bristol’s legendary Upfest Urban art festival, expect live painting from long-term Hackney-based artist and Cultivate founder Sean Worrall. Expect more artist announcements, expect art around the yard, under the arches, expect performance, installation, art drops, art stalls with artists selling their affordable pieces of art, expect lots more, expect music, summer vibes, invited DJs including Resonance FM’s Marina Organ. Expect more artist announcements over the next ten days as we head towards June 12th and an afternoon of art, beer, music and fun at Five Points Brewery. oh and yes, entry is free.
