Artist calls, Cultivate is all about getting involved, we are picky about what we hang on our walls or place on our plinths, it does have to be right, but it is about artists being proactive and being involved on artist terms (rather than the unreasonable terms of agents and galleries). We have a number of shows that you are invited to submit work for at the moment

YES, I KNOW WHERE BISTROTECHQUE IS is to a week long text based show, we would like a room full of text-based art, words, letter forms, type, typography, wordplay, pop art, we’d like a wordy room taken wherever you take it, where are you going to take it?  The tittle, a (slightly tongue in cheek) comment on the hidden galleries, clubs and spaces in and around the East London art district of Vyner Street, the big galleries and uber-fashionable eating establishments that are too cool for signs and interaction with the general public, the slightly elitist you’re not welcome feeling of those big black always closed gallery doors just down the road, or the eternal “excuse me, do you know where Bistrotechque is?” – a question wve been answering dozens of times every week here at Cultivate. And so, for one week, we decided we’d answer the question with a big sign outside and at the same time, inside the gallery, we shall celebrate the art of words, print, letter forms, headlines and such.

THE YELLOW SHOW -The October First Thursday show and one more colour. One more group show where all you get is a word, a colour, this time the subject is YELLOW and we’d like a room full of art dominated by one colour, a room alive with yellow art, yellow painting, yellow prints, yellow sculpture, contemporary painters, street artists, lemon squeezers, submarine dwellers, banana eaters, yellow magic orchestras, yellow yellow yellow, pieces dominated by a strong yellow flavour  A busy room alive will yellowness.  The show will open on October 3rd and run until October 15th.
