Cultivate celebrates two years of being in East London’s notorious Vyner Street this week, we’re half way through our TWO show marking that fact, we have a room full of artists we’ve invited to come mark two years and we’re open for a second late night, tomorrow night, FIRST THURSDAY. We’ll be here officially this Thursday until 9pm, we always end up being here much later though. There’s something like ten galleries and art spaces in and around Vyner Street and open tomorrow night so come along, drink the free drink in the big space down the street, or the one over there, or the one up the road, then come explore what we’ve got for you (bring your own drink though, we’re skint!)
TWO features the art of BECKY BOSTON, CHARLIE McFARLEY, LOS DAVE, DEBORAH GRIFFIN, EMMA HARVEY, JULIA MADDISON, MADELEINE STRINDBERG, MODES OF BEING, MY DOG SIGHS, PIKY, SEAN WORRALL, 616, SHARON REEVES and Denmark’s SMEARY FAIRY. For more artist info go here
The TWO show go on through First Thursday evening, we’re then open all through Hangover Friday and the weekend before the show ends on September 10th, so if crowded First Thursday isn’t your thing, the weekend is when you really catch all the galleries open and peacefully welcoming…..
Coming up next week we have a one week show called NOTIONS OF THE STREET featuring a body of work from London-based street artist ALO as well as pieces from people such as PIKY, 616, SEAN WORRALL, 1 STOP and more…. watch this space, more details on Friday… or maybe Saturday morning. The show opens on Thursday evening September 12th and runs for a week before the mood changes for EMMA HARVEY’s solo show FLESHED – opening on September 19th for a week. We have two group shows coming up late September and early October, a word-based show called YES, I KNOW WHERE BISTROTHEQUE IS and what is almost certainly the very last of our colour-themed group shows, THE YELLOW SHOW.
Artists who wish to get involved in the forthcoming group shows can find out more here – Cultivate is about getting involved, we are picky, but it is about getting involved….
TWO then, we think two years is something worth celebrating, we’re proud of it, you can read more about the two years here. Come celebrate with us down Vyner Street, the place is evolving rather splendidly at the moment. Come celebrate 25 First Thursdays, 70 shows and events, two years of non-stop doing it our artist-run way down Vyner Street…
