And so Cultivate evolved, things got thrown on a big red bus, and one week on, welcome to Cultivate Evolved….

evolvedwall4And so Cultivate evolved and one week on, the space and the thing we are now calling CULTIVATE EVOLVED is up and functioning, The walls are full of art, the room is divided up, ten clear defined spaces and I think the eight of us can feel mostly positive about the evolution of our corner space down in the middle of Vyner Street.  Yes, eight right now, we’re still looking for that ninth committed pro-active artist to step up (the tenth space is the ever evolving guest space of course)

We hope you’re starting to get hold of what has happened to the space now. Cultivate Evolved is an art space, a space evolved from full time gallery to a space where nine in-house artists can show work, exhibit work and take turns at working within the space. All nine of us have a clearly defined space on the wall, nine very different flavours in one white space. nine blank canvases, one each for us to use in whatever way we choose.

Cultivate Evolved will be keeping the same opening hours as the space previously did, same open door policy, same encouraging people to come explore and see what we are doing, same anti-gallery friendliness (radical concepts like open doors and signs to tell you we are actually there).  Do come in and check out what we have on the walls, do come in and be left in peace to explore, or do come in and chat… evolved and open , welcome to Cultivate Evolved

So did all the artists pick up the work they had left in the space over the last two years? No! Did we give them all plenty of warning? Yes. Do we still have it? No, most of it has been given away, recycled, left on the street as free art, or sold off cheap with proceeds going to help the evolution.  Some of it was thrown on to a passing Routemaster bus and sent on a journey to who knows where?  I do like sending art on unknown journeys, usually my art, but those of you who had left your art clearly didn’t want it… Two and a quarter years of a gallery called Cultivate Vyner Street, we needed to get rid of all the clutter before things evolved.

Right then, let us get on with finding this ninth artists and confirming the guests space people.

Artists who wish to be considered for a two week guest slot should contact info@cultivatevynerstreet.com for more information
